Rainstorm Causes Water Damage in Atherton Home

A rainstorm occurred while the homeowner of this home in Atherton was away, causing water damage. During this time, water had been entering through the cracks of the sunroof in their family room. The homeowner attempted to remove and clean up the water until he realized the hardwood floor was buckling. The rainwater had seeped through the hardwood floor and some of the drywall in the family room. Our SERVPRO of Palo Alto specialists rapidly arrived and set up the necessary equipment to prepare for water restoration. The project required our technicians to remove two feet of the drywall to expose the plywood in order to dry it to standard. Our technicians also cleaned and disinfected the wood framing in order to prevent microbial growth. The homeowner was very pleased that we were able to restore his family room in a shorter period of time than he expected.
